Posted: 13/05/2009

A top Midlands air show will be taking over the airwaves as well as the skies as Radio Cosford prepares to broadcast.

A team of experienced broadcasters are brushing up their skills for the annual RAF Cosford Air Show, which will see dozens of aircraft and spectacular aerobatic teams entertaining more than 50,000 spectators this Summer.
Broadcasting on a frequency of 87.9 Mhz Radio Cosford will be received by most car radios within about a five-mile radius of the RAF Cosford base over the weekend of June 13 and 14.
Radio Cosford will provide a mix of music, interviews, traffic information and live coverage of the main events throughout the day of the show on June 14.
The station will be welcoming information from people travelling to the show, especially if they encounter any huge hold-ups.
Spokesperson Ivor Davies said: “That way we can keep everybody else up to date and maybe help them avoid the problem.
“We would also be happy to give you and your friends a mention and keep you entertained should you be caught up in traffic.”
Anyone who would like to give information to the broadcasters should contact them by phone or text on the studio line number: 07840 940043.
Tickets for the show, which includes a five-hour flying display featuring the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, are available at local branch offices of the Shropshire Star, the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, branches of the Mid Counties Co-Operative Society, Tourist Information Centres in Birmingham (Rotunda), Stafford (Gatehouse Theatre) and Stoke (Victoria Hall), the special air show ticket line on 0870 121 2523, and an internet booking service at  www.seetickets.com.
