Shropshire Charity gets celebrity support at Malvern Show

The British Hedgehog Preservation Society was delighted to welcome their patron John Challis onto their stand at Malvern Spring Gardening Show this month.  John helped out selling merchandise and signed autographs for show goers.  BHPS Trustee Hugh Warwick also attended the show and gave talks in the ‘Green Theatre’ as well as signing copies of his new book, “A Prickly Affair – My Life With Hedgehogs”.

Shropshire based BHPS took up their stand in the organic gardening section, an area that has increased in size in recent years.  The Society attends the show each spring as part of Hedgehog Awareness Week that they organise every May.

Fay Vass, Chief Executive of the Society said “We are very grateful to John for giving up his time to support our Charity.  His presence at the stand caused quite a buzz and we appreciate his efforts all the more knowing what a busy schedule he has.”

John is best known for playing ‘Boycie’ in Only Fools and Horses, and more recently in Green Green Grass.  He has been a patron of the Society for just over a year.  For more information on BHPS and its work or to purchase a copy of Hugh’s book log onto www.britishhedgehogs.org.uk or write to BHPS, Hedgehog House, Dhustone, Ludlow, SY8 3NA.
